It all started with those long Blue posts from the Lead Systems Designer that sparked so many discussions on the WoW forums and more recently Ghostcrawler has partaken in many a debate via twitter. Never before had a Blizzard employee made them self so available to the mass player base. Giving each twitter question no matter how troll like the same patient and calm response that we would expect.
Greg Street under his pseudonym became, perhaps by mistake, the heart of community interaction at Blizzard and whether you loved or hated his decisions and responses, I am sure everyone will miss his willingness to keep us informed and entertained.
Despite being a main target for the troll community, Ghostcrawlers view on trolls was also very philosophical, as he new that their rants stemmed from their passion for the game that is 'World of Warcraft' and without passionate people there would be no WoW - A game that Ghostcrawler loves and will continue to play, even after his departure from Blizzard.
On the day of the announcement, 27th November 2013 the social media networks exploded with rumour and astonishment, a testament maybe to the time and effort he had out into social media himself.
In response the first post by Greg Street on his departure came on Facebook:
Closely followed by his beloved twitter, trying as always to respond to each and every tweet, an almost impossible task!
He will be greatly missed by the community as a whole, and although I am sure Blizzard will plug he gap with another great Lead Systems Designer, it will be difficult for them to fill the shoes of such a much loved character, so willing to interact so willingly with the masses!
